Data by our local partner cartube.co.il has the Israeli new car market off -7.9% year-on-year in May to 22,391 sales. This brings the year-to-date tally down -13.6% to 129,230. Toyota (+11.4%) defies the negative market and repeats at #1 with a dominant 15% share. As a result, the Japanese manufacturer climbs to #2 year-to-date below Hyundai (-61%) imploding to #5 this month. Kia (-30.9%) stays at #2 but it’s Seat (+345.3%) that is the best performer of the month, up 8 spots on April to #3 with 6.9% share, all records. Skoda (-2.1%) holds steady at #4. Among Chinese carmakers, BYD (-9%) and Chery (-18.9%) disappoint and both fall faster than the market. Renault (+186.1%) and Suzuki (+10.6%) excel in the remainder of the Top 10.
